Outdoor Kitchen to Outdoor Oasis
By transforming an isolated outdoor kitchen into the center of a complete backyard experience, this design created a cohesive outdoor living space with room to cook, gather, relax, and enjoy the lake beyond.
A Grand Backyard Welcome
Simple in concept, yet dramatic in experience, this backyard transformation created a true outdoor paradise with an inviting pool, layered entertaining spaces, and a beautiful new connection from the home to the lake beyond.

As a pastor, the homeowner and his family were constantly welcoming guests into their home. They needed more than a backyard; they needed a thoughtful outdoor environment that could comfortably accommodate groups ranging from small family gatherings to larger events with friends, church members, and guests.
Design
To create a stronger connection between the house, pool, and lake, we removed several windows and designed a new entrance that opens directly onto the pool amenity space. This primary axis from the home to the lake became the organizing feature of the entire design, allowing each outdoor room to serve a purpose while still feeling connected to the larger view.
Create
By raising the pool area and arranging terraces, circulation paths, and gathering spaces around it, the owners now have the outdoor retreat they always wanted. A garden space, outdoor kitchen, pergola, swing, and a more gracious entrance from the pool to the house work together to create a backyard that feels both expansive and intimate. Pedestrian circulation was carefully considered to ensure the space could host large crowds without sacrificing the comfort and ambiance needed for smaller gatherings.
